How it works

One check-in a day. Miss it, and Snoot Safe keeps trying you for a while before anyone else is involved.

  1. Step 1 You check in A tap in the app, a reply of OK to a text, pressing 1 on a call, or a link in an email. Once a day by default, on the schedule you pick, in your time zone.
  2. Step 2 We try you first Miss your check-in time and we keep trying you over the next few hours: an app notification, an email, a text, then a phone call. Before anyone else is contacted you get a clear last reminder with the exact time.
  3. Step 3 Your contacts step in If you still haven't answered, every contact you chose is asked at once. They see your pets' care notes right away. Home-access details are shown only after a PIN or a one-time code, and every reveal is logged.

Check in after an alert and everyone gets an all-clear on the same channels. One person saying "I'm on it" tells the others.

A best-effort backstop, not a medical alert. How soon your contacts are asked depends on your schedule plus the reminder window, so on the default daily schedule it can take up to about a day for an alert to go out. Snoot Safe is for pets, and it is honest about what it can and cannot notice.

Beyond the allowance

10¢ per extra text or voice reminder, $1.99 per additional alert, 99¢ per extra practice alert. If you go past the allowance, reminders keep going; the extras are billed at these rates.

Questions

What if my phone dies or I lose it?

Check in by replying OK to a text, pressing 1 on a call, or through the link in an email. Or log in from any browser and check in with one tap.

What do my contacts see?

The invitation you send them when you add them. They accept by entering and verifying their own number on the page it opens; then nothing more until an alert. Then a page with your pets' care notes and, behind the PIN they chose, your home-access details. Every reveal is logged.

Is this a medical alert?

No. Snoot Safe is a best-effort backstop for your pets, bounded by your schedule and the reminder window you choose.

How quickly would someone know?

From the check-in time you missed, we keep trying you for two, four or twelve hours, your choice, and then your contacts are asked. On the default daily schedule that can be up to about a day.

What if I'm travelling or in hospital?

Set an away period. Check-ins pause and resume when it ends, with a reminder the day before.

How do I cancel?

From Billing in the app, through Stripe. Check-ins turn off when the subscription ends and turn back on if you resubscribe.

What if a contact doesn't respond?

All your contacts are asked at the same time with the same instructions, and one saying "I'm on it" tells the others. That is why we suggest more than one.

Is it only for people who live alone?

No. It's for anyone whose animals depend on them being home: on your own, sharing a place, away for work. Add the people who'd step in, and the daily check-in does the rest.

Texts and calls

Snoot Safe sends text messages and makes automated phone calls for two reasons only: to reach you when you miss a check-in, and to reach the contacts you chose when an alert goes out. Nothing else, never marketing.

  • You receive reminders and verification codes at the phone number you verify in your account.
  • Your contacts hear from Snoot Safe only after they choose to: you send them the invitation yourself, and they accept by entering and verifying their own number on the page it opens. The code they request is the first text; after that, only the alert if you ever can't check in and the all-clear. Every message carries a one-tap link to step down, and replying STOP does the same.
